Privacy Policy

How we collect, use and protect your personal data — in plain English, no legalese we wouldn't use ourselves.

Last updated: 20 July 2026

Storm Development Ltd ("Storm Development", "we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what personal data we collect when you visit this website or get in touch with us, why we collect it, and what rights you have over it. It's written in plain English, consistent with how we like to talk to our clients.

We are the "data controller" for the personal data described in this policy — meaning we decide how and why it's processed.

What we don't do

We don't sell or rent your data to anyone. Our analytics and advertising tools are switched off by default and only run if you say yes via our cookie banner.

What personal data we collect

  • Contact form enquiries. When you submit our contact form we collect your name, email address, phone number, the service you're interested in and your message. This is sent by email to our own inbox so we can reply — it isn't stored in a database on the website.
  • Spam protection (Google reCAPTCHA). Our contact form uses Google reCAPTCHA to stop automated spam submissions. This means Google processes some technical data about your visit — see their privacy policy for details of what they collect.
  • Analytics (Google Analytics), if you consent. With your permission, given via our cookie banner, we use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site — pages viewed, roughly how long for, and general location and device type. This is aggregated, statistical data used to improve the site, not to identify you personally, and it doesn't run at all unless you accept it.
  • Marketing (Meta/Facebook Pixel), if you consent. With your permission, we use the Meta Pixel to measure how well our Facebook & Instagram ads perform and to build audiences for future advertising. Meta processes this data according to its own privacy policy, and it doesn't run at all unless you accept it.
  • Standard web server logs. Like virtually every website, our hosting provider automatically logs technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you visit, for security and diagnostic purposes.
  • Google reviews. The reviews shown on our homepage and Testimonials page are pulled from our public Google Business Profile. The reviewer's name and profile photo are made public by the reviewer on Google, not submitted to us directly.
  • Optional third-party embedded content. Our Weather and Video Production pages can embed live content from YouTube, Windy, WillyWeather and Windguru. These only load if you consent via our cookie banner, and each of those providers may then collect data according to their own privacy policies once loaded.

Why we process your data, and our legal basis

  • Responding to enquiries submitted via our contact form — legitimate interest (running our business and answering the questions people ask us) and, where you go on to become a client, performance of a contract.
  • Preventing spam and abuse of our contact form — legitimate interest.
  • Running analytics, Meta Pixel ad-performance tracking, and loading optional third-party embedded content — your consent, given via our cookie banner. You can withdraw this at any time (see our Cookies Policy).

How long we keep your data

We keep contact form enquiries for as long as reasonably necessary to deal with your enquiry and for a sensible period afterwards for our own business records — typically no longer than 24 months, unless we're required to keep it longer (for example, for accounting or legal reasons) or you ask us to delete it sooner. Google Analytics data is retained according to Google's own retention settings on our account, currently 14 months.

Who we share data with

We don't sell or share your data for marketing purposes. Data may be processed by:

  • Our email and hosting providers, to send and receive email and keep the website running.
  • Google, via reCAPTCHA (spam protection), Google Fonts (website typography) and Google Analytics (only if you consent) — see Google's own privacy policy.
  • Meta (Facebook), via the Meta Pixel (only if you consent) — see Meta's own privacy policy.
  • YouTube, Windy, WillyWeather and Windguru — only if you choose to load their content on our Weather or Video Production pages.

Some of these providers may process data outside the UK/EEA. Where that happens, they are required to have appropriate safeguards in place, such as the UK's International Data Transfer Agreement or the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Ask what personal data we hold about you, and get a copy of it
  • Ask us to correct inaccurate data
  • Ask us to delete your data
  • Ask us to restrict or object to how we use your data
  • Ask for your data in a portable format

To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected]. If you're not happy with how we've handled your data, you also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

Children's privacy

This website is aimed at businesses and isn't intended for children. We don't knowingly collect personal data from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time, for example if we add a new feature to the website. We'll update the "last updated" date at the top of this page whenever we do.
