Cookies Policy
What cookies and third-party embeds this site uses, and how to control them.
Last updated: 20 July 2026
This page explains what cookies and similar technologies this website uses, and why. For how we handle personal data more generally, see our Privacy Policy.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that websites and the content embedded in them can store on your device. They're used for all sorts of things — remembering your preferences, keeping you signed in, or (on many sites) tracking you for advertising. We keep things deliberately simple, and nothing beyond strictly necessary cookies loads unless you say yes.
Cookies we use
Strictly necessary — always on
These are essential for the site to work as intended, so they don't require consent.
| Provider | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Google reCAPTCHA | Protects our contact form from spam and automated abuse. |
| Google Fonts | Loads the typeface used across the site. This doesn't set a cookie, but your browser does contact Google's servers to fetch the font files, which shares your IP address with Google. |
| Cookie preference | A small entry in your browser's local storage that remembers your cookie choice, so we don't ask you again every visit. |
Analytics — only with your consent
We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how visitors use the site, so we can improve it. The tracking script isn't loaded at all until you accept it.
| Cookie | Purpose | Expiry |
|---|---|---|
| _ga | Distinguishes unique visitors for Google Analytics. | 2 years |
| _ga_* | Persists session state for Google Analytics. | 2 years |
Marketing — only with your consent
We use the Meta (Facebook) Pixel to measure how well our Facebook & Instagram ads perform. It isn't loaded at all until you accept it.
| Cookie | Purpose | Expiry |
|---|---|---|
| _fbp | Identifies browsers for the Meta Pixel, used for ad delivery and measurement. | 3 months |
| _fbc | Records when you've clicked through from a Facebook or Instagram ad. | 3 months |
Third-party embedded content — only with your consent
Our Weather and Video Production pages can show live videos and wind widgets from a handful of third parties. These aren't loaded until you accept them — either via the cookie banner or by clicking "Load" on an individual widget.
| Provider | Purpose |
|---|---|
| YouTube (Google) | Live webcam video playback. |
| Windy.com | Interactive wind forecast map. |
| WillyWeather | Detailed wind forecast widget. |
| Windguru | Live wind station readings. |
| Newport Boat Club | Live harbour webcam. |
Each of these providers sets its own cookies once loaded, governed by their own privacy and cookie policies, which we don't control.

Controlling cookies in your browser
Most browsers let you see, delete and block cookies from the settings or privacy menu — this applies to every website you visit, not just ours. Look for "Privacy", "Cookies" or "Site settings" in your browser's settings. Blocking all cookies may stop some parts of other websites working properly.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy if the cookies or embedded content on this site change. We'll update the "last updated" date above whenever we do.
